Forget fish & chips! Forget convenience foods, additives, and meals that, despite all their flavour, do more harm than good… Now you will meet London’s healthiest, most environmentally and human-friendly restaurants. The ingredients are organic, and the staff is friendly.

Clerkenwell Kitchen

We can guarantee that you will feel refreshed as soon as you enter the door of this restaurant. In addition to its simple and elaborate decoration, the dishes on the menu are also a unique attraction. All the meat used in the dishes comes from free-range animals, and the two restaurant owners visit the farms every week to procure vegetables and fruit. Everything is eaten in season at Clerkenwell Kitchen. We should also note that they are only open on weekdays.

Feng Sushi

Although we are not used to seeing the words ‘sushi’ and ‘organic’ side by side, Feng Sushi shows us how it is. Almost everything in the restaurant is made from recyclable materials. They even treat their waste oil to use it as biodiesel. To obtain ingredients special to Asian cuisine, such as edamame, they contract with local farmers and grow them on these lands.

Wahaca

Wahaca, the first UK restaurant group to be certified carbon neutral in 2016, is a member of Food Made Good and has many sustainability awards. So much so that you can find the carbon impact of its dishes on its menu; it works with local suppliers for its menu, which is about 60% vegetarian and has seasonal dishes throughout the year. Our recommendation for this Mexican restaurant, which you can find in many different locations in London, is the Covent Garden branch.

The Three Stags

It is impossible to find imported fruit and vegetables at The Three Stags! The restaurant buys everything from local producers in the country and considers sustainability a priority. It is very meticulous about the fish it chooses. For this reason, its menu changes seasonally. Remember to taste the wood-fired pizzas when you visit.

The Rosemary

This friendly neighbourhood restaurant in New Cross Gate serves Hungarian-inspired dishes made using products from certified organic farms. From bread to cottage cheese, soups to sauces, noodles to pancakes, they make everything themselves. Traditional and hearty dishes such as Hungarian goulash, a rich stew made with meat and vegetables, and Hungarian dessert, a tricolour cake, can also be found here. They also grow plants and produce fish with an aquaponic system.

Mildred

Considered one of the best vegetarian restaurants in London since it opened in 1988, Mildreds proves that vegetarian food can be delicious with options such as maple coleslaw, sweet potato fries, smoked chipotle sauce, tofu, halloumi and lentil burgers. Mildreds, which switched to entirely plant-based meals in 2021, is very ambitious about vegan flavours. The vegetables used in Mildred’s recipes come from organic farmers and local suppliers. They are committed to using as much organic, local and seasonal produce as possible. Apart from Soho, they also have branches in Covent Garden, Camden Town, Kings Cross, Dalston and Victoria, for your information.

Oliveira Kitchen

Oliveira Kitchen, located in the Borough area, attracts attention with its unique vegan and vegetarian dishes prepared entirely with organic and sustainable agricultural ingredients. The menu includes specialities such as stuffed courgette blossom, roasted vegetables, quinoa with orange sauce and ceviche. Oliveira Kitchen works directly with its suppliers and only buys from environmentally friendly producers. The dishes are prepared with an understanding that prioritises naturalness and creativity. They also organise workshops on sustainable cooking for their guests. You can enjoy it.

Petersham Nurseries

Located in Richmond and Covent Garden, Petersham Nurseries offers a unique, lush garden restaurant experience. With simple yet flavoursome dishes made with natural ingredients, Petersham Nurseries uses fresh vegetables and herbs grown in its own greenhouse. Since each dish is made from seasonal ingredients, the menu naturally changes frequently. Petersham Nurseries is one of the most popular restaurants in London with its eco-friendly approach and sustainability-based cuisine.
